Application and characteristics of core spun yarn

The core-spun yarn is generally made of synthetic fiber filament with good strength and elasticity as the core yarn, and the outer cotton, wool, viscose fiber and other short fibers are twisted and spun together. The core spun yarn has the excellent properties of both the filament core yarn and the outer staple fiber. The more common core-spun yarn is polyester-cotton core-spun yarn, which uses polyester filament as the core yarn and wraps cotton fiber. There is also spandex core-spun yarn, which is made of spandex filament as the core yarn and outsourced from other fibers. The knitted or jeans material made of this core spun yarn stretches and fits comfortably when worn.
The main purpose of polyester core-spun yarn is to strengthen cotton canvas and maintain the water repellency of cotton fiber due to swelling in water. Polyester has stretch resistance, tear resistance and shrink resistance when it is wet in the rain. At this stage, the core-spun yarn has developed into many types, which can be summarized into three categories: staple fiber and staple fiber core-spun yarn, chemical fiber filament and staple fiber core-spun yarn, chemical fiber filament and chemical fiber filament core-spun yarn. At present, the core-spun yarns that are used more generally are core-spun yarns with a unique structure formed by chemical fiber filaments as the core yarns and outsourcing various short fibers. The commonly used chemical fiber filaments for its core yarns include polyester filaments, nylon filaments, spandex filaments, etc. Outsourced staple fibers include cotton, polyester-cotton, polyester, nylon, acrylic and wool fibers.
In addition to its special structure, core spun yarn has many advantages. It can make use of the excellent physical properties of the core yarn chemical fiber filament and the performance and surface characteristics of the outer staple fiber to give full play to the strengths of the two fibers and make up for their deficiencies. For example, polyester-cotton core-spun yarn can give full play to the advantages of polyester filament, which is refreshing, crepe-resistant, easy to wash and quick-dry, and at the same time, it can play the advantages of good moisture absorption, less static electricity and less pilling of the outer cotton fiber. The woven fabric is easy to dye and finish, comfortable to wear, easy to wash, bright in color and elegant in appearance. The core-spun yarn can also reduce the weight of the fabric while maintaining and improving the properties of the fabric, and use the different chemical properties of chemical fiber filaments and outer fibers. Burnt-out fabric with three-dimensional pattern effect, etc.
The use of core-spun yarn is currently the most widely used core-spun yarn with cotton as the skin and polyester as the core, which can be used to produce student uniforms, work clothes, shirts, bathrobe fabrics, skirt fabrics, bed sheets and decorative fabrics. An important development of core-spun yarns in recent years is the use of core-spun yarns with polyester cores covered with viscose, viscose and linen or cotton and viscose blends in women’s clothing fabrics, as well as cotton and silk or cotton and wool. Blended covered corespun yarns, these products are very popular.
According to the different uses of the core-spun yarn, the current varieties of core-spun yarn mainly include: core-spun yarn for clothing fabrics, core-spun yarn for elastic fabrics, core-spun yarn for decorative fabrics, core-spun yarn for sewing threads, etc. There are also many spinning methods for core-spun yarn: ring spinning, electrostatic spinning, vortex spinning, self-twist spinning, etc. At present, my country’s cotton spinning industry mostly uses cotton ring spinning to spin core-spun yarn.
