Characteristics of aramid fiber

1, good mechanical properties

Aramid fiber is a kind of flexible polymer, its breaking strength is higher than ordinary polyester, cotton, nylon, etc., its elongation is larger, its handle is soft, and its spinnability is good. It can be produced into short fibers and filaments with different deniers and lengths, which can be made into fabrics and non-woven fabrics with different yarn counts in general textile machinery. After finishing, it can meet the requirements of protective clothing in different fields.

2. Excellent flame retardancy and heat resistance.

The limiting oxygen index (LOI) of aramid fiber is greater than 28, so it will not continue to burn when it leaves the flame. The flame retardant properties of aramid fiber are determined by its own chemical structure, so it is a permanent flame retardant fiber, and its flame retardant properties will not be reduced or lost due to the use time and washing times. Aramid fiber has good thermal stability, can be used continuously at 300℃, and can still maintain high strength at higher temperature than 380℃. Aramid fiber has a high decomposition temperature, and it will not melt or drip at high temperature, and it will slowly carbonize when the temperature is higher than 427℃.

3. Stable chemical properties

Aramid fiber has excellent resistance to most chemicals, most high-concentration inorganic acids and good alkali resistance at room temperature.

4. Radiation resistance

Aramid fiber has excellent radiation resistance. For example, under the long-term irradiation of 1.2×10-2 w/in2 ultraviolet rays and 1.72×108rads gamma rays, its intensity remains unchanged.

5. Durability

Aramid fiber has excellent friction resistance and chemical resistance. After 100 times of washing, the breaking force of rope, ribbon or cloth processed by aramid fiber can still reach 85% of the original strength.
