Comparison between Kevlar rope and nylon rope

Compared with nylon (based on nylon 66, there are too many types of nylon), Kevlar rope has little difference in wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and the main difference lies in the high-temperature and low-temperature environment (the melting point range of nylon-66 is 246~263℃). Kevlar’s continuous temperature range is extremely wide, and it can run normally in the range of -196℃~204℃ for a long time.

The shrinkage of Kevlar rope is 0 at 560°C and 150 C.. The strength at high temperature will not decompose and melt, but the strength of nylon is higher than that of nylon in terms of price. If the environment you use is not very harsh, nylon is more economical considering economic factors. Of course, if you are climbing or using it in high temperature and cold areas, you should choose Kevlar rope.

If it is purely in terms of performance, Kevlar rope is overwhelmed in key attributes, such as strength, wear resistance, weather resistance and density, which are higher than those of nylon.

However, in actual use, the performance of Kevlar rope is very limited on the finished rope, unless it is a special rope such as climbing safety rope, the performance of nylon rope is already competent. It is a special rope, and nylon rope is also very capable.

Therefore, comprehensive evaluation, data and performance advantages of Kevlar rope are great, and performance improvement is limited in practical use.

The advantage of nylon rope should be cost performance. When the rope can be fully used, the price of the rope is much lower.
