Knotting and use of ropes

Rope knot

Knotability (knottability)

Because the rescue system has to bear a high load, it is very important to balance the relationship between simple and easy rope tying method and easy to untie after use.

It is easy to tie a knot with a soft and flexible rope, and the knot can be tied tightly by hand; But after the load, these knots cannot be untied.

Although the thick and hard rope is not easy to operate, it is not easy to tie the knot by hand, and the knot may be loosened or slipped before it is tied, but the knot tied by the thick and hard rope is easier to disassemble after use.

Rope use

Handle (Handling)

Use or operation refers to the ease with which special ropes are used. Soft ropes are easier to use. As mentioned above, soft ropes are easier to knot and tie. The softer rope is not only suitable for small rope bags, but also convenient to store. Rescue team members who don’t often use ropes usually prefer to use ropes that are easy to operate.

Although soft ropes have the above advantages, many experienced rescuers prefer to use harder ropes because they have stronger wear resistance and durability, and can provide more effective control when lowering or dropping. The mine rope used in digging holes is specially made very stiff to make the rope more efficient when it rises.
