Maintenance of climbing rope

1, the rope can’t touch things are:
① Fire, intense ultraviolet rays;
② Oils, alcohol, paints, paint solvents and acid-base chemicals;
③ Sharp objects.
2. When using the rope, use a rope bag, rope basket or waterproof cloth to pad under the rope. Do not step on it, drag it or use it as a cushion, so as to prevent sharp objects from cutting the fiber or rock debris, and fine sand from entering the fiber of the rope to cut it slowly.
3. Try to avoid direct contact between the rope and water, ice and sharp objects. For example, when climbing in wet or frozen places, waterproof ropes should be used; The rope cannot directly pass through bolts, fixing points, umbrella belts and slings; When hanging down, it is best to wrap the part where the rope contacts the rock corner with cloth or rope.
4. Check the rope after each use and coil it. To avoid the kink of the rope, it’s best to use the rope winding method which divides the rope into left and right sides and then folds the rope.
5. Avoid frequent cleaning of the rope. Cold water and professional detergent (neutral detergent) should be used when cleaning. The purpose of washing the rope with cold water is to minimize the shrinkage of the rope. After cleaning (no residual detergent), put it in a cool and ventilated place to dry naturally. Be careful not to bask in the sun or use a dryer, hair dryer, etc., which will cause great damage to the inside of the rope.
6. Record the usage of the rope in time, for example: whether it is damaged in appearance, how many falls it bears, the use environment (rough or sharp terrain), whether it has been stepped on (this is especially important in river tracing and snow climbing), and whether the surface of ATC and other equipment is worn (these equipment will cause damage to the rope skin).
