Processing of aramid fiber

While aramid fiber has high performance, it also causes difficulties in processing. Because aramid fiber can’t melt, it can’t be produced and processed by traditional processes such as injection molding and extrusion, and it can only be processed in solution. However, the solution processing can only be limited to spinning and film forming, which greatly limits the application of aramid fiber. In order to obtain a wider application and give full play to the excellent performance of aramid fiber, further processing is needed. Here’s a brief introduction:

2. The secondary processing of aramid fiber is further processing on the basis of the primary processed product. Like other fiber filaments, aramid filaments can be used for textile. By knitting and weaving, two-dimensional patterns can be woven, and three-dimensional fabrics can also be woven. Aramid filament can also be blended with natural fibers such as wool, cotton and chemical fiber, which not only keeps the characteristics of aramid fiber, but also reduces the cost and increases the dyeing performance of fabric. Aramid fiber and resin can also be used to prepare weft-free cloth and cord fabric. It can also be directly woven into products, such as anti-cutting gloves.

3. The tertiary processing of aramid fiber means further processing on the basis of secondary processing products. For example, the secondary processing products of aramid fiber are aramid fiber cloth and aramid paper, which are not much different from our commonly used cloth and paper. Aramid cloth can be made into clothing, and can also be used as a skeleton composite material; Aramid paper can be used for insulation of motors, transformers, electronic appliances, and can be further processed into honeycomb materials for secondary parts of airplanes, yachts, high-speed trains and motor cars.
