What are the main classifications of polypropylene materials?

The varieties of polypropylene fiber include filament (including undeformed filament and bulk textured filament), short fiber, bristle, split fiber, hollow fiber, profiled fiber, various composite fibers and nonwoven fabrics. It is mainly used to make carpets (including carpet base cloth and suede), decorative cloth, furniture cloth, various ropes, strips, fishing nets, oil-absorbing felt, building reinforcement materials, packaging materials and industrial cloth, such as filter cloth and bag cloth. In addition, it is widely used in clothing, and can be blended with various fibers to make different types of blended fabrics. After knitting, it can be made into shirts, coats, sportswear, socks and so on. The quilt made of polypropylene hollow fiber is light, warm and elastic.

structure

Polypropylene doesn’t contain chemical groups that can combine with dyes in the macromolecular structure, so dyeing is difficult. Usually, the pigment preparation and polypropylene polymer are evenly mixed in a screw extruder by melt coloring method, and the color fiber obtained by melt spinning has high color fastness. The other method is copolymerization or graft copolymerization with acrylic acid, acrylonitrile, vinyl pyridine, etc., so that polar groups can be introduced into the polymer macromolecules, and then dyed directly by conventional methods. In the process of polypropylene production, it is often necessary to add various additives to improve dyeability, light resistance and flame resistance.
