What’s the difference between polypropylene and polyester?

1. Materials

The surface materials of these two kinds of polyester coiled materials are polyester non-woven fabrics, and the exposed filaments are longer, while the surface materials of polypropylene are polypropylene non-woven fabrics, with nest-like holes on the surface, and the exposed filaments are shorter.

2, the later waterproof effect

The waterproof effect of polyester is better than that of polypropylene in the later stage of construction.

3. Relative density

The relative density of polypropylene fiber is 0.91, which is 40% lighter than cotton and 34% lighter than polyester. It is a kind of light fiber. Lighter than water, it means that polypropylene fiber can be made into light fabric, or at the same weight, it has large volume and good warmth retention. Therefore, polypropylene fine denier yarn is the material for making sportswear, swimsuits and military bedding.

4. Classification

Polypropylene waterproofing membrane is classified according to grams, while polyethylene polyester waterproofing membrane is classified according to thickness.

5, wear resistance

Due to the continuous friction of polypropylene fiber in the process of use, the friction resistance of the fiber determines the application range and service life of the fiber, and the wear resistance of polypropylene fiber is better than that of polyester fiber.

6, water absorption

Polyester has good water absorption, polypropylene has little water absorption, and almost no water absorption, and the moisture regain is close to zero under general atmospheric conditions.
