What’s the difference between PP material and polyester?

1. material analysis

PP non-woven fabric: The fiber used for non-woven fabric production is polypropylene, which is a synthetic fiber obtained by polymerization of propylene.

Polyester non-woven fabric: the fiber used for non-woven fabric production is polyester fiber, which is a synthetic fiber obtained by spinning polyester condensed from organic dibasic acid and diol.

2. Different densities

PP non-woven fabric: Its density is only 0.91g/cm3, which is the lightest variety among common chemical fibers.

Polyester nonwoven fabric: When polyester is completely amorphous, its density is 1.333g/cm3.

3. Different light resistance

PP non-woven fabric: poor light resistance, insolation resistance, easy aging and brittle loss.

Polyester non-woven fabric: good light resistance, only 60% strength loss after 600h sunlight irradiation.

4. Different thermal properties

PP non-woven fabric: poor thermal stability, not resistant to ironing.

Polyester non-woven fabric: good heat resistance, melting point of about 255℃, and stable shape under a wide range of end-use conditions.

5, different alkali resistance

Polypropylene non-woven fabric: Polypropylene has good chemical resistance, and besides concentrated caustic soda, polypropylene has good alkali resistance.

Polyester non-woven fabric: Polyester has poor alkali resistance, which can damage the fiber when it reacts with concentrated alkali at room temperature and dilute alkali at high temperature. It is only stable to dilute alkali or weak alkali at low temperature.
